What is Aquaculture?
L’acquacoltura è una forma di produzione agricola, che avviene in acque dolci o salate, finalizzata all’allevamento di pesci, molluschi, crostacei e alghe. Lo scopo principale dell'acquacoltura è quello di rispondere all'aumento della richiesta di fishery products for human consumption. Aquaculture is a form of agricultural production, which takes place in fresh or salt water, aimed at the breeding of fish, molluscs, crustaceans and algae. The main purpose of aquaculture is to meet the increasing demand fori fishery products for human consumption.Today, it can no longer be considered a simple alternative to fishing activities, but rather a real production requirement capable of generating economic and environmental benefits in response to the progressive depletion of aquatic fauna. The farming takes place in a natural marine environment, where the farmer “sows” the fish whose growth is guaranteed through the supply of specific feed.
